Over $1300 was raised at the March Morningstar AAC trial

At the March 7 Fun Match, another $161 was raised from the raffle and $74.42 was raised from lunch.

At the February 7 Fun Match, another $153 was raised from the raffle and $133.75 was raised from lunch.

December 2008: Thanks to the generosity of the agility community, over $6,000 has been raised so far to help cover the medical expenses of these dogs.

TAC raised $1000 at the MorningStar Dog Academcy AAC Agility Trial in Kingston at the Quarry Sportsplex on November 15 and 16, 2008.  This will help greatly with the medical bills of the dogs in foster.

Several of the dogs in the Kingston area have been released for adoption.

At the TAC November 8 Fun Match, another $167 was raised.

From Christine Mandy:

Sunday October 19, 2008

Five vehicles wound up making the trek to the Montreal SPCA, four full to the brim with "donations", to bring home some of the dogs in their care resulting from the two recent puppy mill seizures.  Due to the size of these seizures and the number of dogs removed, the Montreal SPCA had to open a special facility to house them.  Fortunately, we were able to bring back 32 to Kingston, from a tiny Jack Russell up to and including a Harlequin Great Dane who drove back to Kingston loose in the back of Mandy's car!

The sad news is that we had to leave many dogs behind.  There is a room full of wonderful German Shepherds in all sizes and colours who typically are among those most often left behind.  There is also a very tall male St. Bernard, a black male Great Dane, six Bull Terriers, two Huskies and a couple of French Mastiffs all looking for people!  If you know of any one interested in fostering any of these dogs, Krista would be willing to organize drivers or phone ahead to ask that these dogs be released to her rescue (Krista is ultimately responsible for all the dogs brought back yesterday) for people to pick up and foster themselves.  As you are no doubt aware, these dogs may not be spayed, neutered or adopted until the legal system gives the go ahead.

Last but not least, please spread the word...  We are making an appeal to the community to consider helping with the medical expenses that these dogs will incur.  An account has been established at the Lennox and Addington Animal Hospital (Napanee:  613 - 354-1020) and cash or credit card donations may be made directly and/or cheques may be made out to The Agility Connection for deposit to this account.  When it comes time, all these dogs will need to be spayed and neutered and many dogs need to immediately be treated for various types of infection such as ear and skin, etc.  Their medical care is going to be ongoing and the bills will soon reach proportions where Krista alone can not, and should not, be expected to bear all the responsibility.  I am asking as Krista has never and would never ask herself.

Thanks so much for all your contributions and donations.  To say that the volunteers and workers appreciated the donations and opportunities given to 32 dogs yesterday is an understatement!

Out of bad has come good and fortunately we have seen the best brought out in many people over the last few days, including the volunteers and workers at the shelter yesterday.  Lets keep that spirit alive!

I am providing Krista's email address and phone number with her approval but please be patient and leave a message if you don't get through at first:

May 3rd was our last indoor fun match until the fall.  Generous donations resulted in another $112 for the dogs in care at the Napanee OSPCA from a recent puppy mill raid.

A BBQ lunch provided by the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life Team "PAWS for the Cure" raised $275 for the team.  Many TAC friends participated in this walk on May 30 at RMC.  Over $250,000 was raised in Kingston. Donations can still be made at this link.
