John & Lizzie and Karen & Emma

John, Lizzie, Karen, Emma at the Soccer Dome

Lizzie and Emma are two All Canadian Lab X sisters owned and handled by John and Karen Topping.

Lizzie and Emma were born April 16, 2003 .  Their Mom, Niblet, was rescued by Krista Swackhammer two days before the pups were born.  They grew quickly and joined the Topping household at 7 weeks in June 2003.  They were named after the characters Mapp and Lucia in the E.F. Benson stories.  Lizzie (Miss Elizabeth Mapp) aka Lizard, Lizard Breath or Sister Bertrille (because of the ears) is the yellow (blonde!!) girl and Emma (Mrs. Emmeline Lucas) a.k.a. Emma Girl or Emma Dog is a lovely shiny black.

We started classes at Morning Star Dog Academy in the Fall of 2003 and very quickly Dawn Chisholm became one of their favourite people.  They have progressed quickly at Morning Star from puppy classes to Rally-O and Agility.

Our first trial was July 17, 2004 at the Morning Star Rally-O Competition at Lake Ontario Park in Kingston ON.  Emma earned her Rally-0 Novice Title cum lauda (RNCL) and Lizzie got one leg toward her Novice title.  Lizzie completed her Novice Title (RN) requirements at Duoro in September 2004.  Lizzie and Emma both earned one leg towards their advanced titles in Rally-O in December 2004.

We train with our Morning Star friends at the club, the soccer dome and at Dawn’s fields in Newburgh .  In August 2004, we attended our first agility Fun Match hosted by The Agility Connection.  We have had lots of fun (and food!) with our Agility Connection friends and are learning every week at practice classes with Christine and Eliot and Deana and Sasha.  Sometimes we join the Saturday group and learn and have fun with Lilian and Wrigley, Patricia and Quest, Glenn with Ben and Marley, Steacy and Sarah, Deana and Sasha and Christine with Chance and Eliot.

We will be competing in the summer of 2005 in agility with the “Tow”tally Awesome Pink Panters sponsored by Pat Roger’s Towing at the Morning Star Team Challenges. We will also be going to The Agility Connection Fun Matches.  Sanctioned trials in both agility and Rally-O will have to wait until the girls mature a bit more and polish their skills.

Looking forward to the summer of 2005.
